About Sunman's Nursery

The story of Sunman's Nursery in Fort Myers, FL since 1956.

Sunman's Nursery and Landscaping was started in Fort Myers, Florida, on McGregor Boulevard, in 1956, by Ralph Sunman. Over the years, satisfying customer after customer, Sunman's Nursery and Landscaping began to build their reputation as number one in customer satisfaction.

When Ralph Sunman passed away in 1990, he left his business to his beloved son Gerald Trapnell Senior. For the next 15 years, Gerald, also known as Jerry, excelled the company even farther, building to the already phenomenal reputation. Jerry added to the nursery making room for more plants and more satisfied customers.

In 2005, we were saddened when Gerald Trapnell Senior passed away, leaving the company to his beloved son Gerald Trapnell Junior. Gerald, also known as Jay, followed in his father's and his grandfather's footsteps. Jay took Sunman's Nursery beyond what his father’s before him could have ever imagined. Jay also added to the nursery and brought the company to its most successful peak. Jay continued Sunman’s Nursery reputation as number one in customer satisfaction.

In 2015, again we were deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Gerald (Jay) Trapnell. After Jay's Passing, his sister Jessica Wolter stepped up to the plate to assume ownership and run the day-to-day operations. Jessica's commitment to continue her family's 60 year old business will ensure that Sunman's Nursery's customer satisfaction is always the main focus. Jessica has also expanded the nursery and added new and more inventory, bringing you the best variety and the healthiest plants being cared for by our friendly knowledgeable staff.
